David Morico
artwork
b.1970

David Morico finds inspiration in the iconic images of the past and their ability to touch our lives. He is interested in how simple objects like a gum wrapper can instantly bring a person back to a specific time, place or mood. His work reflects the nostalgia of childhood with images of well-known sweets, pages from his father’s books, or historical figures. His compositions are layered and collaged to create depth and varying textures, letting the viewer explore and pick out unique vignettes within a large composition. A contemporary artist inspired by the pop art movement of the 1960s, his paintings have a build up of layers using different mediums such as resins, molding, wood, sand, paper and canvases with bright pops of paint.
Morico was born, raised, and currently resides in Connecticut. His work has been featured in numerous publications including Elle Décor, and Art News. Many corporations such as American Airlines, JP Morgan and Yale have Morico paintings in their collections. Newbury Fine Arts is proud to introduce David Morico’s work to the Boston area.
