Marlene Rose
artwork

b. 1967

I like to think that every piece of glass that I create has an ancient memory instilled in its essence more ethereal than its physical form.

-Marlene Rose

Watching Marlene Rose at work in her studio is like a glimpse into some heavenly inferno as she scoops up a ladle of glowing, liquid molten glass from the furnace, carrying it to the sand mold she has carefully prepared. Her creative process is a complex one, requiring many intricate stages alternating between heating and cooling the elements, breathing new life into a method grounded in ancient culture. Rose’s art transcends time, intersecting and connecting mystical elements of past civilizations to contemporary relics of modern life.
