Marlene Rose

biography

Marlene Rose is considered the foremost sandcast glass artist in America. Sandcasting is an ancient metal casting technique that has been adapted for glass only relatively recently. Liquid molten glass (heated to 2,000 degrees) is poured into individual sand molds, each of which is destroyed after use to create truly unique works of art. Please watch the video below for a demonstration of the artist creating her work using this technique.
