Peregrine Heathcote
artwork

b. 1973

Peregrine Heathcote’s exquisite paintings conjure a world of intoxicating glamour and intrigue. The artist’s scenes of beautiful women and debonair men set within a historical context reminds us of a time when travel was at its pinnacle of luxury. The narrative quality of Heathcote’s paintings inspires the viewer to construct their own story for each scene.

The extravagance found in his work is the result of many unique influences on Heathcote during his youth. Born in London in 1973, Heathcote spent his childhood living in both Britain and Dubai, exposing him to the lifestyle of international jetsetters. In London he was the youngest student to ever study art at Heatherly College of Art.  At only eight, while other children were on holiday, Peregrine diligently studied figure drawing and painting.

Son of an antique dealer specializing in Militaria, the young artist’s imagination flourished in his own home, surrounded by a constant influx of relics and antiques from various points in history. Much of Peregrine’s love of vintage cars comes from his paternal grandfather who ran the Rolls Royce 20 Ghost Club. His grandfather passed down this passion and even bequeathed his grandson with a 1938 Arthur Mulliner Rolls Royce.

His maternal grandfather was a test pilot for the Royal Air Force and Heathcote would often stay with him in Wales, listening to adventures of flying secret missions over Europe. In his youth, Heathcote’s grandfather occasionally took his girlfriends for joyrides in his planes, impressing them with acrobatics and beautiful views of the landscape. As a result of his many years of flying, his log-books filled with detailed information including the plane types and flight destinations. Heathcote has often used these for inspiration to produce compositions with the same planes and romantically linked couples embarking on or returning from various journeys.

In 1995, Heathcote graduated from the Florence Academy of Art and since that time his artistic career has flourished. His success has peaked the interest and the  collection by screenplay writer and Oscar winner, Julian Fellowes. The artist has also completed various portraits for the English nobility. The BBC spotlighted Heathcote painting a portrait at the famous London Palladium and finished the program with the unveiling of the piece at the Royal Academy. He has exhibited at the Royal Society of Portrait Painters, the Royal Academy, and Hampton Court. Additionally, his paintings have been auctioned at Christie’s Auction House. Newbury Fine Arts is proud to represent Peregrine Heathcote as the primary source for his artwork on the East Coast of the United States.
