"Yeah, I like it here. Oz is a heady mix of California and Blighty, but then it feels like we can do no wrong at the moment. Canberra - Melbourne - Sydney. Pride comes before a fall..."

"Wisseloord Studios, Holland: It feels like we don't have time to catch up with our own success or enjoy it. The push to continue (churning out the dollars) never lets up. We are on an insane schedule trying to record this third album in one month, with a week of gigs in the middle. We don't have enough songs and Sting stole the tape of my instrumental "Behind My Camel" and hid it in the studio garden. He doesn't think it should be on the album - bastard! "Canary In A Coal Mine", "Don't Stand So Close To Me", "When The World Is Running Down" - it is a struggle at this time - but something is beginning to emerge - Reading "The Shining" for light relief."

"Sting played his arse off tonight. I took pictures, he cooperated - nice boy. I get back "home" each night by walking down a small white path and finding my way by flash light. Nice metaphor."

"We are up somewhere near the Great Barrier Reef cavorting on the beaches of Brampton Island. This is a forced but enjoyable break due to Sting's throat 'packing up' just as we are about to get started. The whole tour has been put back a week. This is a far cry from The Hope and Anchor. There are Manta-Rays and Sharks in these waters - just like the record biz."

"Paris! We took a ridiculously early flight to be here. We're knackered emotionally - physically - spiritually - seeking solace in the printed word."
